Your Optometrist:
Dr. Shala Lakhani — OD, BSC
Dr. Lakhani received her Bachelor of Science degree in Anatomy and Cell Biology at McGill University in 2006, and her Doctor of Optometry degree at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in 2011.
During her training, Dr. Lakhani completed an internship in cornea and specialty contact lenses, treating and fitting patients with various corneal diseases in the Washington DC area. She then completed an internship on glaucoma and ocular disease at the Veteran’s Affairs Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. During her time in Baltimore, she attended regular lectures at the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University.
A Torontonian at heart, Dr. Lakhani returned to her home city to continue her professional career as an associate at Downsview Eye Care with glaucoma specialist and ophthalmologist Dr. Brent Weiser. At this practice, she focused on providing her patients with primary and therapeutic eye care, including treating ocular diseases and pre- and post-operative care.
Dr. Lakhani is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists and the Canadian Association of Optometrists.
Dr. Chloe Somers
Dr. Chloe Somers graduated from Queen’s University with a Honours Bachelor of Science in Biology. She then went on to New England College of Optometry in Boston, Massachusetts to obtain her Doctor of Optometry. Her training focused on ocular disease and low vision, working in Veterans Affairs hospitals in Providence, RI and Buffalo, NY. She also spent time learning from a diverse group of ophthalmologists and optometrists in Miami, FL. After practicing in Boston, Dr. Somers decided to return home to Ontario but remains board certified in both Canada and the United States. Outside of work, she enjoys baking, traveling, and reading.
