Over 10 years ago, Dr. Shala Lakhani brought her dream of creating a top-notch eye care and eyewear practice to life.
Since day one, our team has shared a common goal of providing our patients with a welcoming and friendly experience. Everything we do is designed to help our patients meet their visual needs.
Our practice philosophy is based on providing personalized eye care, where all recommendations and treatment plans are geared towards each patient.
DR. SHALA LAKHANI
Optometrist (O.D), Dry Eye Specialist
Dr. Lakhani earned her B.Sc. in Anatomy and Cell Biology from McGill University (2006) and her Doctor of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University (2011), followed by a cornea and specialty contact lens internship in Washington, DC.
A proud Torontonian, she returned home to practice alongside ophthalmologist Dr. Brent Weiser at Downsview Eye Care before bringing her expertise to Humber Bay. Her focus is on ocular disease prevention and dry eye therapy. In 2020, she founded the Dry Eye Clinic at Humber Bay Eye Care to better serve the community’s needs.
DR. SENURI APONSO
Optometrist (O.D), Comprehensive All-Ages Eye Examinations
Dr. Aponso graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry. She was trained in primary care with a focus on myopia control, contact lenses, ocular disease, diabetic eye exams, and dry eye disease. She completed externships in Newmarket where she worked alongside ophthalmologists to evaluate conditions such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and pre/post-surgical care. She believes in patient-centred care with an emphasis on addressing patients’ visual needs and ensuring good ocular health. Dr. Aponso is a member of the Ontario Association of Optometrists. She is proficient in English and conversational in Sinhalese. In her spare time, she enjoys baking and spending time outdoors.
